Embracing the Potential of AI

FROM THE LTEN BOARD – By Jeff Hartzler

Spotlighting how artificial intelligence can help you

If I told you I was not a robot and not a human, yet I could help you write, coach you, provide you with facts, engage in a conversation with you and maybe make you smile — would you be interested in learning more?

What if I told you I wasn’t emotional and have a truthful and honest personality … would you want to learn more?

These are just some ways to describe artificial intelligence (AI), which is one of the fastest growing topics in life sciences and in society. Some are embracing the technology (which is changing almost daily) and some are waiting to see where this fast-moving train takes us (although they are likely engaging with AI daily and may not realize it).

My goal as you read this is to focus the power of AI on your personal development and daily efficiencies. Many in our profession focus on how AI can assist to create content or “do” something for you. I decided to take a different approach to highlight how AI can help you.

Helping Hands

If you are like most people, you probably spend a lot of time on Zoom and Teams for meetings, presentations and collaboration. Did you know AI within these platforms can also help you grow your skills and offer efficiencies as well?

Here are a few options you may find valuable:

  • Live captions and transcripts: Teams can provide live captions for your meeting participants who prefer to read along or who speak a different language.
  • Meeting summaries can automatically generate a summary of your meeting with key points, action items, questions and answers, and links to relevant resources.
  • Smart recording can record your meeting and transcribe it in real time, highlighting important moments and allowing you to search and edit the transcript later.
  • Equal Time is an AI-powered meeting analytics tool that can help you measure and improve the inclusivity and diversity of your Teams meetings. It can provide insights on how much time each participant speaks and how often they are interrupted.
  • Speaker Coach gives users insight into how they speak during calls and meetings. It provides private real-time feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Viva Insights provides a productivity breakdown of your meetings, effectiveness and ways to improve. Viva Insights also provides information like how much time you spend collaborating with colleagues and your communication habits.

Conclusion

While these are just a few highlights within Teams and Zoom, there are many options available to assist in your development and evolution of your ways of working.

That’s why LTEN is devoting the final day of this year’s annual conference to offer a deep dive into the uses of AI in life sciences training.

If you would like to learn more about the use of AI in our industry – including trends, content development and ways of working – please join us at #LTEN2024. You’ll take away new AI insights after we help you “level up” your skills.
